How to play
Four daily puzzles about the League of Legends item shop on Summoner’s Rift, all built from the same snapshot of the shop. Each mode has its own page and its own score. Everyone gets the same puzzles; a new set starts at midnight, Zurich time.
Chain (normal): you hold one component, say a Long Sword. Name the item it builds into. The card shows your component, one empty box for every other part and the combine fee as “? g”. Reveal clues in a fixed order (the combine fee, the rarest other part, the remaining parts, then the stat line) or guess at any time; a wrong guess uncovers the next clue for free. Every guess and every reveal is one move, and after six moves the rung is lost. Solve it and the next rung starts: an epic answer becomes the item you hold, a legendary hands you one of its other parts. Five rungs, golf scoring: lower is better.
Shelf (normal): five items and today’s key, which rotates through total cost, combine fee and sell value (on Sundays: five legendaries within 300 gold of each other). Tap them cheapest first, then Check. Items in the right place stay; the others go back with an arrow that shows which way they must move. Four attempts; revealing one item’s value costs one of them.
Receipt (hard): five receipt cards, each with one blank line. Type the total, the combine fee or the sell value on your number pad, name the missing component so that the bill balances, or work out which legendary you are buying from the parts you already own and the gold still owed.
Loadout (very hard): the summed stats of two hidden legendary items (three on weekends) are shown as bars. Guess one legendary at a time. Each of its stats is marked as fitting, too much, or not in this loadout; a right item locks in and the bars shrink to what is left. Eight guesses, with hints after three and five misses.
Scores and sharing
- Chain: the score of a rung is your moves (guesses plus reveals), from 1 to 6; a lost rung shows X and counts 7. The day’s score is the sum of the five rungs. Par is the fewest moves a perfect player needs when guessing only once the clues leave a single item.
- Shelf: solved in 1 to 4 attempts (a revealed value counts as one); the share line lists how many items were in place after each attempt.
- Receipt: receipts solved out of five, and the tries for each one (X for a miss). Three or more count as a solved day in your statistics.
- Loadout: guesses and hints used; fewer is better.
The share text is plain numbers, for example Chain No. 67 · 9 · 1-2-1-3-2, followed by the link. It never names an item or a price, so it spoils nothing.
Feedback rules
- Chain: a wrong item that does not use the component you hold says so (“X doesn’t build from Long Sword”). One that does use it shows whether the answer costs more or less in total. Items with the same recipe and the same fee (for example Zeke’s Convergence and Locket of the Iron Solari) get “Same recipe and fee: check the stats”, and only the stat line tells them apart.
- Shelf: a green tick for a right place, an arrow up (it belongs nearer the cheap end) or down. Values stay hidden until the end; the shelf never has two items with the same value.
- Receipt numbers: an arrow (more or less) and a distance band: exact, within 50 g, within 150 g, or further. The component prices are not printed on total, fee and sell cards: you need to know them.
- Missing part: your item’s price goes into the bill, which is then over or short by a number of gold, or balances when you picked a different item with the same price.
- Recall: how many of your held items the guessed legendary uses and how much more or less it would still cost. After two misses one more component of the answer is shown.
- Loadout: one tile per stat of your guess: fits (the loadout still has at least that much), too much, or not in this loadout. “Fits, but not in this loadout” means every stat fits but the item is wrong.
Answers are always items from the Summoner’s Rift shop of the patch shown under the question. Never asked: trinkets, tier-3 boots, the support-quest upgrades, jungle pets, and anything from Arena or ARAM only. Most items sell for 70% of their cost, rounded half up; starters, potions, elixirs, Control Ward, Rejuvenation Bead, Seeker’s Armguard and Guardian Angel sell for 40%.
About the data
Every number (cost, combine fee, sell value, recipe, stats) comes from Riot’s game files for patch 26.21 (read through CommunityDragon); item names in English and German and the icons come from Riot’s Data Dragon for the same patch and are hosted on our server. Which items count as Summoner’s Rift items, their tier and the nicknames we accept come from the League of Legends Wiki (CC BY-SA 3.0); we use facts and names only, never tooltip text. Stats are the plain numbers an item gives; passives, stacks and transformations are left out.
The shop changes with every patch. Each day is built with the snapshot that was current for it, so a past puzzle never changes; a new patch takes effect on a later day, never on patch day itself.

FAQ
When is there a new puzzle?
Every day at midnight, Zurich time (CET/CEST). Everyone gets the same puzzles. The countdown after a round shows the time left.
Which names can I type?
The English or German name of an item and the common nicknames: IE, BotRK or bork, ZhG, triforce, banksys and the like, plus the old names of items that were only renamed (Liandry’s Anguish, Luden’s Tempest, Navori Quickblades). The list shows the matching items with their icon and tier, never a price.
Why does a price differ from my game?
LoLGoldle uses a fixed snapshot of the shop (the patch is shown under the question). After a new patch the snapshot is updated for a later day, so today’s and past puzzles never change in the middle.
Are Arena or ARAM items included?
No. Only items from the Summoner’s Rift shop count. Trinkets, tier-3 boots, the support-quest upgrades and the jungle pets are never answers in the gold modes.
How do streaks and stats work?
Your browser keeps your results per mode. The streak grows by one on each day you finish at least one mode. Nothing needs an account.
Is this made by Riot?
No. LoLGoldle is a fan quiz under Riot Games’ “Legal Jibber Jabber” policy. Riot Games does not endorse or sponsor it. It is free and funded by ads.
Does the share text spoil the answer?
No. It shows only your numbers (moves, attempts, tries), never an item or a price.
I found a wrong number. What now?
Write to hello@dailyguess.org with the item and a source. Fixes start on a future day, so nobody’s past puzzle changes.
